Bread Preparation

1/4 cup warm water

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp dry yeast

2 cups plain flour, sifted

1/2 cup wholemeal flour sifted

3 tbsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

2 tbsp unsalted margarine (additional for brushing)

1 whole egg

3/4 cup low-fat milk


1In a small bowl, combine yeast, 1 tsp of sugar and warm water. Set aside until foamy

2In a separate bowl, mix egg, melted butter and milk until well combined

3In a large mixing bowl, add both flour followed by egg mixture and yeast. Siti with a spatula until everything is well combined

4Cover bowl with damp cloth, allow to proof for about 2-3hrs or until doubled in size

5Preheat oven to 190ºC and prepare baking tray with parchment paper

6Flour work table generously and pour proofed dough onto the table (add flour accordingly until it is not too sticky)

7Roll dough out lightly and evenly to about 1cm thick

8Dip round cookie cutter with flour then cut dough. Repeat until all the dough has been cut

9Using a clean spatula, transfer round dough onto baking tray. Cover and allow to rest for 20 minutes

10Bake them for 10 minutes
